Wayland Arnold, Owner
Wayland has loved being in or on the water from the time he can remember! Originally, his family owned 16 acres on Kentucky Lake named the camp and a house in Dania, Florida, so he grew up being in the water. Learning to water ski behind a jon boat at age 5 at the camp, he progressed to skiing and footing on Percy Priest Lake and the Cumberland River as one of the river rats. He and his wife, Allison, skied on Lake Barkley when they lived in Western Kentucky, and upon moving back home to Nolensville in 95, quickly rediscovered and fell in love with Center Hill Lake. After being honorary residents at Center Hill Lake Motel (overlooking Sligo Marina) for several years, they dreamed of owning their own houseboat someday. In April of 2000, on their 7th Anniversary, their dreams came true when they bought the "Seven Year Itch". This was the beginning of what would become their houseboat obsession! Two boats later they now own a 50 Gibson named "All-Ways Wanted" because its exactly what they've always wanted (and it uses the first 3 letters of each of their names!). Over the years, Wayland has taught well over 100 water lovers to ski. In fact, while all six of their combined children ski, the oldest son ranked as a competitor in the National Water Skiing Competition at the age of 14. Now, with eight granddaughters, ranging from newborn to twelve years old, Wayland hopes to see them all skiing on Center Hill Lake some day.
Waylands passions go beyond the lake however. He is dedicated to perfection in his craft. After spending over 40 years at his family business, Nashville Tent and Awning, he decided to combine his vast experience with his love of all things boats and water. Thus, Arnold Marine Canvas & Trim @ Sligo was born! With customized product experience ranging from all types of custom fitted covers, to redecorating Nashvilles Vanderbilt University Gymasium, to enclosing Oprylands Geo Theatre, to industrial curtains and jumbo jet airplane wing covers, Wayland has the expertise and imagination to do everything from the smallest repair to the largest enclosure!
